Young Achiever of the Year – Winner
April’s Mum went on record saying April has ‘done things most adults couldn’t cope with, all whilst attending school daily & achieving good grades’. None of this could be more truthful. As a young carer since the age of six, April has lovingly looked after her Mother and her Aunts, even going above and beyond, all of her own volition and without complaint.
After being interviewed by Healthwatch, April has gotten more involved in fighting for better support for young carers like herself. She is now raising awareness for other young carers by making appearances on local radio stations such as Bolton FM to broadcast her thoughts and feelings.
Both inside and outside of school, April uses her voice to spread the word about the struggles young carers across the world face on a daily basis. April manages all of this and more whilst maintaining a smile, and a caring disposition. She is kind, compassionate and has a great sense of humour in the face of adversity.
Let’s give a massive congratulations to April!!
